WAKE UP SLEEPING BUNNY

This little bunny has been on a plato. No hopping around or eating carrots just taking on step at a time. Fixing little things on the web but nothing fantastic to speak off.

This has now changed. I have just finished a new poster for softball Queensland new Swing into Softball.

It is a pretty simple poster, but everyone in the office loved in. Thought that the way the background was lightened made the players POP and it seemed 3D. The hardest thing of the poster was most likely finding these amazing action pictures.

SOMETHING SHORT AND SWEET

This bunny is still working at softball so here is a few more designs that I have completed.

I was asked for two new poster designs. Most of the information was TBA so month was used until I had the information. The first I wanted something to stand out, something that would grab peoples attention and make them want to read more. The second the client ask for bright, colourful and festive.

I was also asked to design the annual report cover. The only requirement, apart from their logos, name and address, was the display of our three national champion teams. I started with the ball shape for the winning team pictures as a softball. There was faint stitching, to show they were balls but that was deleted as some players lost their faces. The Under 19 Men's team was used as the larger front page as this is their second year in a row winning. Maroon was the main colour because we are QLD.

The last of my new covers was for the masters tournament. Normally they are reserved covers, I believe my last year cover is a few posts down, but I was going for something big and different this year. So I started with players versing each other, the two catchers and the pictures. Then the more I added each facing another it came together. It was going to only be the bottom two triangles but after trying the top two as well it looked amazing. The triangle in the middle shows the softball diamond and the logo.

As all ways let me know what you think :D

BUNNY AND A NEW LOGO

This bunny as been pretty board. Hopping over to subway working and eating carrots at home. Once a week, when this bunny goes to Softball Queensland to paint pictures a new task appears before her eyes.

There is a new softball development program, that the staff are trying to establish. It still incorporates the tee but for teenagers. The client ask for bright colours, as its for young teenagers, but it will appear on several different colour shirts and was not to blend in.

The first step I took was creating the logo design. Incorporating parts of softball into a logo.

The test name at the time was "Play Ball". The triangle represented the diamond, which softball is played on. The little player on the top is playing on a tee, to demonstrate it is kinda like t-ball and it is an unidentified gender player.

*Note: this is a game much like T-Ball but with softball rules and for older kids. Its to help break down the barrier between T-Ball and slow pitch softball.

The name was then changed to "Swing into Softball". From there lots of different colour combinations were used to get the right selection and the font was changed. When thinking of swing, one imagines Italic or curved font. The softball font was "chalk duster" which is a personal favourite of mine when working on softball media.
Due to the extra characters, from Play Ball to Swing Into Softball, the diamond was extended. The font was changed, as mentioned above, and colours where chosen. I used green for the diamond, like a grass field, and kept an unbiased gender player colour. Keeping the logo professional I only wanted two or three colours but colourfully enough for the client. Therefore the player and the "Softball" text matched in colour. Every attempt had the ball changing colour.

The black in the logo seemed out of place with me. But I could not change it to green, as it looked out of place and there is too much maroon with the ball that colour as well. So the last logo, until the panel review, had the text changed to a middle colour dark green. Its more soft and blends beautifully.

The size of the ball was the last debate. It was asked to be small so the whole ball is seen. If you think the bigger ball is better let me know would love to get some options.

So the finishing colours are colourfully but still incorporate the softball feel with the green and maroons.  And the best thing they can go on a range of different colour shirts.

ONE FAMOUS LITTLE BUNNY

What is the aim of it all? This bunny went to uni, completed work experience and now applies for jobs with no result. Does anything come of this or should this bunny join the mars team and fly into space? Hold the phone.

When I entered the office of Softball Queensland, where I am completing work experience, the first thing they said was your are famous. I complete lots of work for various medias and programs but most are just plans, program covers or websites. I am proud of them all but there is just something about having an actual print out in a newspaper of your design.  Well that time as come, this little bunny is famous :D

The post I uploaded a while ago showed my design for the logo of southern cross challenge and the posters. There was a range of sizes and potential media designs I created and very proud to have my top banner and kids zone promo printed.

SOFTBALL QUEENSLAND IS KEEPING THIS BUNNY BUSY

This bunny only goes into Softball Queensland once a week and helps with website updates, and creates banners and program covers. This year there are several softball events, and this bunny is ready for them.

The first event is a massive Softball tournament, that I am now allowed to talk about. The Southern Cross Challenge, with Redlands RSL becoming a naming sponsor, happens at the end of April with teams from around Australia and special teams from the world. Every two years Softball Queensland hosts it.

My task for the past month has been to create a new logo (for 2013), a banner for the website http://www.southerncrosschallenge.com and posters for the Brisbane area. This has taken several attempts with the naming sponsor only being announced. With possible map options and flyers for companies.

There is also a Kids Zone event during the tournament. The poster below was created with this target market in mind.

BUNNY AND HER FLASH CARDS

A lecture once mentioned that advertisers have a selection of their personal flash cards to describe a feeling or event. So this bunny has starting taking pictures of things around her. Pictures that describe 1000 words.

Below are my first 4 flash cards. Pictures that could be used as campaigns if they were tweaked and put forward to the right product.

The first a lightening strike in Australia the shape of Australia, showing our crazy weather and sprit.

While travelling in Hawaii I found this hidden oasis. Just looking at it makes one feel in a unknown location, remote, beautiful.

During a masquerade, this picture was taken. It gives of a "I want to be them" feeling.

It all started with a spark.

BUNNY STARTS NOVEL ENCOUNTERS

This bunny has been thinking about lots of stuff lately. While creating websites for Queensland Softball and for family friends its time one starts to think about the future.

After some thought putting all of my work under one (unofficial) company name sounded like a good idea. A name that is close to me, one that explains what unique (the future goal) creations I can create. Novel Encounters, was chosen. Below is the current design I am playing around with.

HOP OVER THE WATER TO BRIBE ISLAND

This little bunny recently went over to Bribe Island (off Brisbane) to meet some visiting relatives. Who doesn't like the sun and beach and what goes better than FOOD!!!

We came across this little cafe near the beach who recently became over new management. While there I took these photos which the owners loved and said they would like to use.
